SOLO ART EXHIBITION ALENG TOHARA “FITRI SUATU INFINITI” 

AT INNER JOY ART GALLERY

PETALING JAYA, 3 JUNE 2023 – After 22 years in the industry of fine art, Abdul Jalil bin Toha, or more commonly known as Aleng Tohara shares 27 artworks on canvas, and 27 poetry for each artwork in this solo art exhibition, FITRI SUATU INFINITI at Inner Joy Art Gallery. This exhibition commenced from 3 June until 8 July 2023 and it was officiated by SN Dato’ Rahman Shaari, the 15th National Laureate of Malaysia.

The works of art by Aleng in this solo exhibition highlights the artist’s heart expression through visual art and the art of literature too, which are translated onto canvas as well as poetry. For Aleng, art displays the real authentic feeling and characteristics deep within one’s heart, and this can be expressed through any medium without limitation.

FITRI SUATU INFINITI is a unique theme that is focused on the works of art by Aleng which is able to transcend imagination, inspiration, ambience of the past, today, the present moment as well as the future.

FITRI, in the meantime, is to reminiscence the month of Aidilfitri, since the definition of FITRI itself is about fitrah (gratitude), originality, authenticity, sincerity and pureness of Syawal, in conjunction with the recent celebratory month of Aidilfitri.

INFINITI, is a concept that is close to heart, whereby it encompasses the artist’s real-life experience, of which such experience is without boundary and is without any limitation. 

Through this exhibition, visitors will be able to experience Aleng’s heart expression through his works of art which are divided into 5 concepts; ie. Modern Abstract, FITRI, Semi Abstract Flora and Fauna, RINTIK (DROPLETS) and Radiant / Vibrant. Each of the artwork has its own implied meaning, which is also expressed through poetry created by Aleng himself.

Aleng has expertise in both the arts of painting and poetry. The combination of both genres added to the experience of art which is limitless and infinite to the mind or heart. In other words, Aleng has brought life to the beauty of literature and visual arts through his double creativity”, said SN Dato’ Rahman Shaari, 15th National Laureate of Malaysia, who is also a literary mentor to artist Aleng Tohara.

“Aleng’s solo art exhibition is truly unique, because visitors would be able to enjoy abstract art deeper through poetry that Aleng himself crafted for each artwork. Aleng creates art that goes beyond what can meet the eyes through this solo art exhibition. Visitors who enjoy both works of visual art and poetry would be able to experience and appreciate Aleng’s life experience as a visual artist, poet and special education teacher at the Ministry of Education Malaysia. That is what we want to highlight here too - that through art, you will be able to experience and appreciate the life of the artist too,” said Dymphna Lanjuran, Art Director and Curator of Inner Joy Art Gallery.

Aleng Tohara is a fine art artist with a beautiful touch. Aleng started to be involved in the art field around 2001 when he commenced his higher education at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Reputation and collectors of his artworks increased through verbal sharing and social media, thanks to Aleng’s natural talent and his consistent passion for self-growth. 

FITRI SUATU INFINITI is Aleng’s first solo art exhibition with Inner Joy Art Gallery and it is expected to attract hundreds of visitors. 

Lovers of visual arts and literature are invited to Inner Joy Art Gallery to experience the works of visual arts and poetry by Aleng Tohara. This solo art exhibition, FITRI SUATU INFINITI commences from 3 June until 8 July 2023, and is opened for visits by appointment through the gallery.
