Mikhail Omar

Mikhail Omar bin Syahrul, a remarkable young talent, was born in Ipoh, Perak, in 2009. From a very young age, Mikhail's vibrant spirit was evident through his love for the outdoors, fascination with animals, and a deep passion for dinosaurs. At 2 1/2 years old he was diagnosed with moderate Autism, accompanied by speech delay.
Navigating the challenges of communication and self-expression, Mikhail often found himself isolated and frustrated, struggling to convey his thoughts and emotions. Yet, amid these trials, his remarkable artistic journey emerged as a beacon of hope.
Mikhail's artistic debut came at the tender age of 10 when he participated in World Autism Awareness Week 2020, a collaborative fundraising event organized by La Galeri Du Monde and United Voice. It was here that Mikhail's talent shone brightly, as he showcased his creations to the world. His participation resulted in the sale of two paintings at the exhibition, a turning point that made him feel seen and appreciated by others.
In 2023, Mikhail continued to make strides in the art world when he took part in 'The Art of Autism,' an event organized by the National Autism Resource Centre at UiTM. His journey as an artist is not only a testament to his resilience but also an inspiring example of how art can be a powerful means of self-expression and connection for individuals on the autism spectrum.
Mikhail's story serves as a reminder that art transcends boundaries and offers a universal language through which he communicates his unique perspective and creative vision.
