A little bit about the Artist
Dymphna Lanjuran hails from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. She's from the minority native group in Borneo, Kadazan. She completed her Bachelor in Law (with hons) in 2006 and practised as an Employment Law lawyer for about 11 years while at the same time practising art by side.
Art has always been her passion since she was a kid and it was common to see her participating in various art competitions in her childhood and teenage years. In 2012, Dymphna decided to take her art a notch higher when she first exhibited her pencil artworks on papers in a group talent show in Kelana Jaya.
In 2014, she produced her 1st group art exhibition with Table 312 in Bangsar and the group sold a few paintings during the opening day. That achievement encouraged her to continue pursuing her passion in art. She has then participated, curated and produced various exhibitions in Malaysia and Indonesia.
Fast forward to 2019, Dymphna's art journey naturally transitioned to an Artist Curator and Producer as she founded Inner Joy Art Gallery in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. She forego her legal career to solely focus on this new journey where her passion in art, joy and people development are channelled fully to the growth of art through Inner Joy Art Gallery.
Personally, Dymphna's visual art style continues to develop from time to time as she prefers to immerse herself in different art series which are often intuitive, daring and experimentative. Her current favourite subjects to paint are abstraction and imaginary floral.
"Follow your bliss to the very core of your being. That's what I do and I'm loving it!" - Dymphna Lanjuran
